Knot

Paying homage to the sea of ruddy hues and dolloped curves across stacks of pottery found behind a potter’s studio, ‘The Knot’ has been hand-moulded with red clay to echo the sun-baked textures across Kutch’s landscape. Delicately woven kala cotton threads have been knotted to braid the teardrop body, inspired by the water carriers knotted and held in place on a camel’s back—a symbol of respite across the region’s arid terrain.

Materials: Red clay and kala cotton

Dimensions: Height : 14 inch || Width : 26 inch

Care: Wipe with soft dry cloth. Don’t use chemical and wet cloth.

Timeline: Each piece is a testament to slow made craft, requiring eight to ten days to mould, bake and weave; and is dependent on favorable weather in Kutch, as drying the clay under direct sunlight or a fan leaves it prone to cracks.

Disclaimer: Please note that each piece is made by hand and may vary slightly from the listing pictures.
